Appointments

The STAR Health Center has office hours every day and two evenings per week.  We understand that you are not always able to keep appointments and sometimes problems come up that need attention.  Our nursing staff is available by phone during the day and we have walk-in times available if you feel you need to see our provider before your next appointment.  Our providers are also available for emergency consultation after hours.

Hours of Operation

The frequency of your medical visits will depend on your specific medical needs. Appointments will be made to coordinate with your schedule and your provider’s schedule.  You will receive a reminder call 2 days before your appointment. If you cannot come to your appointment, please call the clinic to reschedule your appointment. The phone numbers is 718.270.3745.  STAR Health Center hours of operation are below.  The last appointment of the day is made a half hour before closing time.

SHC allows a 30 minute grace period for arrivals to appointments.  If you are late by more than 30 minutes to your appointment you may not be seen on that day.  You will be given another appointment.  In order to avoid not being seen, please call to inform us of your expected arrival time.

Walk-In Service

You can come to the clinic, at the beginning of every session, if you have an urgent medical problem on the days when you don’t have a scheduled medical visit. Depending on the seriousness of your medical condition, you may be sent to the emergency room or be seen by a provider in the clinic. If your problem is not an emergency, you may have to wait until after the providers see their scheduled patients. If you have a medical problem that has been present for a long time, please do not come in as a walk-in.  Schedule an appointment with your own provider who knows your medical history best.

Medical Advice During and After Office Hours

If you are already a STAR Health Center patient, during regular clinic hours, call 718.270.3745 and ask to speak with a nurse who will assess and address your concerns accordingly.  After regular business hours, please call 718.270.2121 and ask to speak with the STAR Health Center clinician on-call and your call will be answered within 60 minutes.
