We’re proud to share that Marc Liff, LCSW, ACSW, Senior Clinical Social Worker at the STAR Program, has been accepted to present his recent work on trauma-informed supervision at at the 5th Annual Erie County Trauma-Informed Community Conference, a FREE virtual event that will be held on May 13, 2026, from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m (EST).
Building on his 2025 article in Behavioral Health News, Marc will present on how trauma-informed supervision and reflective practice help behavioral health clinicians navigate countertransference and vicarious trauma. His work examines how repeated exposure to clients’ trauma can shape providers’ emotional responses, clinical decision-making, and long-term well-being—and makes the case that reflective supervision, grounded in safety, trust, collaboration, and empowerment, is not optional. It is an organizational responsibility essential to workforce resilience and ethical, high-quality care.
The conference brings together practitioners, advocates, and systems leaders committed to advancing trauma-informed communities. Marc’s acceptance reflects growing recognition of the importance of supporting the behavioral health workforce through structured, reflective, and trauma-informed approaches.
